Prior to Joy & Sean’s wedding ceremony, their families joined them for a traditional tea ceremony.  There were many smiles and lots of laughter as both families celebrated Joy and Sean’s special day.  The ceremony’s hostess was Joy’s Aunt who helped serve tea to each family member.  Her Aunt also brought her beautiful tea set for everyone to drink from.  She explained that the decoration on the tea kettle symbolized a man on one side and a woman on the other.  Joy’s niece and nephew’s also helped make the tea and even served tea to Joy and Sean.

Joy wore this gorgeous orange flower with feathers in her hair.  Stunning!

The flower matched perfectly with her orange and green Cheongsam.

Joy’s Mom was served first, followed by Sean’s parents.

Joy & Sean served tea to each family member who in turn gave well wishes to both the Bride & Groom.

Each family member also presented red envelopes to the Bride & Groom filled with money.  These envelopes are traditionally given as gifts during special occasions such as weddings.  The color of the envelope symbolizes good luck.

Joy & Sean were married in September in beautiful Santa Fe, New Mexico.  Stay tuned for their beautiful wedding coming soon!  While in Santa Fe, Joy and Sean wanted their engagement photos taken right in the little town where they would be married.  We walked around the quaint streets and found some beautiful little spots.  First, we headed to San Miguel Mission which is the oldest church still in use in the country.  The adobe-style building was built in 1610 by the Tlaxcalan Indians of Mexico.  Next to the mission is the claimed ”oldest house” (1646) in America on DeVargas Street.  It was a beautiful adobe building, very authentic Santa Fe.  Then, we headed over to Canyon Road - an area filled with art galleries and charming Santa Fe-style homes and buildings.  I was in love with all the historic, adobe-colored structures with hints of turquoise on the doors, gates and archways.  The beautiful desert sunset gave us some gorgeous light to end the evening.
