I had the wonderful opportunity to work with the talented ladies over at Bliss Event Group - Lara Casey & Emily Ayer recently at Patricia & Jay’s Atlanta wedding!  The ladies provided day-of coordination for the wedding but also offer planning and design services and are uber talented and creative.  They really helped bring together all of Patricia & Jay’s plans and made them happen the day of the wedding.  During the beautiful outdoor ceremony, a domestic dispute broke out in the park adjacent to the ceremony.  It was so disruptive and Lara immediately took action, sprinted up a hill and broke up the argument.  Now, that’s someone you want at your wedding!  The remainder of the evening was event free and made for a wonderful time for the guests on such a beautiful fall night.  The wonderful Eliana of EllyB Events also helped Bliss to create such a memorable day.

Check out the post over on Bliss Event Group’s Blog for a few images and to see some of their other stunning work.  A planner/designer can really help bring together all of your ideas into a cohesive statement for your special day.  It really helps knowing that someone who knows exactly what you want will be there to make things happen and ensure that your day runs smoothly.  It allows the bride and groom to relax and enjoy their special day which is really what it is all about.

Special thanks to Bliss Event Group and EllyB Events - hope to work with you lovely ladies again very soon!

Joy & Sean’s reception was held at the historic La Fonda hotel in downtown Santa Fe.  The hotel sits at the end of the Old Santa Fe trail.  The old, adobe architecture of the hotel and ballroom complimented the travel-theme perfectly.  The guests arrived at the reception parading behind the bride & groom and the Mariachi band who led them from the church to La fonda.  They were greeted with margaritas and passed hors d’oeuvres on the outdoor terrace for cocktail hour.  The bride created a beautiful escort card table with vintage suitcases, globes, cartographers maps & instruments, antique telephones and cigar boxes filled with bundled, air-mail letters.  Antique keys were tied with ribbon and a card with handwritten quotes about marriage.  The escort cards were designed after vintage train tickets labeled with “Joy & Sean Railways”.

In lieu of table numbers, each table was named after an international train station in cities all over the world.  The tables were beautifully decorated with orange tablecloths and stunning floral centerpieces with orange, blood red and green flowers.  The bride also created her own table cards with the train station name.  Cigar boxes were filled with vintage postcards, stamps and magnets from locations all over the world.  The items were placed in a glassine envelope and were given to guests as favors to send the postcards back to family from their trip to Santa Fe.

The groom was a “candy-holic”, so the bride created her own candy table with orange-colored candy to match the florals and other decorations.  Glass apothecary jars and silver containers held taffy, hard candy and other sweets.  A special treat for the bride were Singaporean cookies from her childhood.  Vintage travel stickers adorned the glassine envelopes used for the candy goodie bags for the guests.  The yummy chocolate wedding cake was created with a light-blue fondant and brown ribbons.  An orange, gumpaste flower simply adorned the modern cake.  The night was filled with many toasts, lots of laughter and dancing after a spectacular fireworks display.
