Surprise Proposal!

September 17, 2010

I have always been a good secret-keeper. So, when my friend’s boyfriend, Michael, asked me to help out with his surprise proposal to Erin I was game! Not to mention that they are the cutest couple and so meant to be together. I have known Erin for awhile and we have recently worked together on a little project (stay tuned) and I owed her a favor. She has been talking about getting photos of her new puppy Otis for awhile. So, Michael asked me to be sneaky and get Erin to setup a night to take Otis’ photos. I emailed her and offered to take the photos this week and was sneaky enough to get her to agree to the exact day that Michael wanted to propose. The entire plan worked and she fell for puppy photos.

Fast-forward to a few nights ago and I met Erin, Michael & Otis at the park. The idea was to get some photos of Otis first (so she wouldn’t let on) and get him nice and tired so he would sit still for the actual proposal. Michael & I had worked out a “clue” for when the big moment would happen. I would tell them to walk away from me with Otis and then stop for a photo and he would propose. And here’s what happened…..

Erin, Michael & Otis started to “walk away” for their walking photo with Otis. Erin had absolutely no clue at all at this point!

Here we go! Michael is actually telling her that he’s surprising her with tickets to see her favorite band this weekend - a lead in to the proposal.  She’s surprised!  (But still doesn’t know what’s coming.)

He then knelt down and asked her to marry him!!! She was completely shocked and surpised which was exactly what Michael was going for! Love this shot of her kissing him when he asked her. Even Otis got in on the proposal right between them.

Happy - Happy - Happy!

The Bling! I love the story about the ring. Erin said, “The setting of the ring is from Alabama - like me! And the Yellow Diamond is from NY - like him!” Love that!

Congratulations guys!

And…the big moment in motion!

Congratulations to Erin & Michael!  I’m so excited for you guys and so happy I could be a part of your big day!

Happy Labor Day!

September 2, 2010

Wishing everyone a great holiday weekend!  Things are busy here at MSP and Labor Day Weekend is no different.  I’m off to photograph a special wedding!  Wanted to leave everyone with some images from a trip I took to the Outer Banks of North Carolina two years ago.  Hoping that these landmarks and everyone in the region is safe from Hurricane Earl this weekend.  These were some of the most beautiful beaches that I’ve ever seen.  Miles and miles of un-touched, unpopulated beach.  I don’t think I’ve ever been on a beach where I could look around and not see a hotel, building of any kind, or a soul.  It was very peaceful and naturally beautiful.

Happy Labor Day!  Enjoy your weekend wherever you may be.
