It was such an honor to be a part of one of the editorial shoots for the latest Southern Weddings Magazine that was released in November.  It was a great shoot with tons of amazing Georgia vendors who really outdid themselves on this one!  You may have seen just some of the images from this shoot on the SW blog, or in the glossy spreads that were featured in the magazine, but as promised, here’s even more from the fabulous shoot!

As a girl with a past-career in Interior Design and Architecture, design is something very near and dear to me. It is an element that I carry into my photography as well, studying light, textures, colors, composition, etc. What makes me just absolutely giddy, is when a client feels the same way, and wants their wedding to feel purposeful, meaningful and cohesive with their design elements. Erin + Michael were two such clients. Both of them have a design background, and started their company Hi Note together, a boutique stationery design company that creates beautiful wedding stationery, invitations, signage, the list goes on. I have worked with them for years and we have had some of the same clients, so I was honored when they chose me to be their wedding photographer! I knew their wedding would be special, unique and full of amazing design elements.

They truly did not disappoint either. They came up with a really unique concept for their engagement session. See, they were going to be married at the lake, a casual, fun party and they wanted this to show through in their save-the-dates that they sent out to their guests. They wanted the feel of the wedding and all the activities involved to be shown to get guests excited for their big weekend. So, we did more of a lifestyle-type session, went to the lake for an entire weekend and hung out, doing all the fun things that their guests would experience on their wedding day.

They created these adorable save-the-date booklets, and incorporated photos from their fun engagement session. The “P” logo for their last name, and the woodgrain graphics carried through to many of the actual wedding stationery and graphic signage too. I love when clients form a cohesive story with the entire experience they give to their guests, from the look of the save-the-date, to the invitation, and all the way to the actual wedding. Here is the cover of their booklet, with a photo of the lake at sunset (which also was the time that their ceremony was to take place – clever)!

Erin + Michael hung out on the dock at sunset and we got some photos of them there, and also went out on the boat too. They wanted to play up the lake and encourage guests to rent a boat or jetski’s and take advantage of the lake setting on the wedding weekend since most guests were coming from out of town.

They used frosted, vellum envelopes so that you could see some of the book peeking through the envelope. They also used some very colorful stamps, some of which were also used on the invitation later on!

Here are some close-ups of the book, stamps & fasteners. I love the textured, woodgrain pages, and how they layered the pages with a printed image, with kraft photo corners.

A nearby field was too beautiful to not photograph these two in – it was filled with tall, tall grass and thousands of yellow flowers. This field is also where Erin + Michael chose to do their first-look on their wedding day and all of their photos together. It is so beautiful!

Each page of the book went through the weekend’s events and showed them doing some of the same things that guests would have the opportunity to do on the wedding day. One photo showed them eating brats, one of their fave lake treats – and at their wedding they also had brats, a little fancier…more coming on that soon. Another page showed them toasting margaritas, which were also incorporated into the wedding day. Love this last page which shoes them jumping into the lake for their engagement session, and the text reads, “Join us at Lake Logan martin as we take the plunge!” So cute!

Erin + Michael are also really into great music, so they took some photos looking at their parent’s old, classic record collection. They also had a fantastic band at their wedding – good taste!

Their engagement session & their cute save-the-date booklet were also recently featured on Style Unveiled!!! Click HERE to see the entire feature. Oh, and if you are getting married, or are in the market for any custom-designed stationery of any type – invitations, signage, etc. – contact Erin + Michael at Hi Note today! They are SUPER creative! Wait until you see their wedding & invitation…to die for!
