Engagement Sessions are a great way to both celebrate your engagement as well as capture more casual photos before the wedding. I’ve always recommended that my clients do an engagement session prior to the wedding so that we get to know each other and so that they can see how I work. Many clients are nervous about having their photo taken. Rightfully so, because most people don’t go around having professional photos taken of themselves all the time.

Another great thing about engagement sessions is that it gives my clients a chance to get comfortable in front of the camera, so that come the wedding day they are relaxed and not so worried about how they look. They can simply take the time to enjoy themselves and be in the moment with each other. Many brides often use this session to do a trial run of their makeup for the wedding day in order to see how it will look in photos.

I could go on with other tips and tricks to achieve great engagement photos, but I’ll save that for another post. For now, I’m excited to share some images from Melissa & David’s engagement session in Atlanta! They are getting married this weekend and I cannot wait to capture their special day!

We chose somewhere with both a relaxed feel as well as a more formal feel so that the images would flow well with their wedding images and location. I loved that they incorporated their sweet dog Cooper into the session, after all it was Cooper that brought the ring to Melissa when David proposed. After their casual look, they surprised me with a stylish formal look complete with champagne!
