Sneak Peek: Bailey & Zach’s Finger Lakes Wedding

I have been photographing weddings for so long that I no longer worry about the weather.  It is rare that I check the weather prior to the day before a wedding.  I used to check it for 10 days leading up to the event, and worry and worry about rain.  Something changed along the line, combined with the fact that am SO lucky when it comes to rain!  I might have 1-2 weddings a year with any rain, so I consider myself lucky and therefore a good luck charm to many of my clients!

The forecast didn’t look good for Bailey & Zach’s wedding in Skaneateles, New York and Bailey messaged me a few times the week of the wedding to discuss rain plans & different options for the ceremony, photos & reception.  I told her that I knew the weather would somehow turn and everything would be ok.  Fast forward to the morning of the wedding and I went to the venue to scope things out.  The wind was so strong that my hair flew over my face when I got out of the car.  Big waves rolled in from the lake.  It didn’t look good.  Even if we managed to escape the rain, we had very strong wind.

When I showed up to the bride’s house where she was getting ready, we discussed a plan for the ceremony as the wind coming off the lake was too strong for the original location.  We made a plan and set off for the venue for photos.  The current radar showed that the rain was likely going to miss us.  It was a huge relief for the bride, groom and their families who had spent so much time planning & preparing for this day. After the ceremony while taking photos of the bride & groom on a nearby dock, miraculously the sun came out!  Not only that, but a rainbow arched it’s light over the dock house during the cocktail hour while the clouds sprinkled the tiniest bit of rain – just enough for the rainbow to appear.  What a sign!

Congratulations to Bailey & Zach!!!
